Email when a payment card has expired

Guide to creating a smart rule that notifies customers when their payment card has expired.

Intro

In this article, we describe step-by-step how to create a smart rule that sends an automatic email to a customer whose payment card has expired.

Do this:

1. Go to Settings > Smart Rules.

2. Tap the plus icon in the top right corner to add a new smart rule.

3. Select Trigger: The first step is to select what type of event in the system will trigger the rule. Select "All users, once per day".

Now it's time to set up the smart rule.

4. Start by filling in Name , in this example the rule has been named "Debit cards that expire". Below the line there is a checkbox to activate the rule, check it and the rule will take effect when it is saved.

5. Under filtering, first press the "Add comparison" button.

6. In the first drop-down list, select: "User - Has active subscription".

In the second drop-down list, select "Yes".

(In the top drop-down list where you choose between "and" or "or", leave "and" as is).

 

Then press the "Add comparison" button again.

In the first drop-down list, select "Default payment method - Payment method".

In the second drop-down list, select "=".

In the third drop-down list, select "Card payment (your card payment provider)".

 

Then press the "Add comparison" button again.

In the first drop-down list, select "Default payment method - Expires"

In the second drop-down list, select " Within days backwards".

In the third drop-down list, select "10".

 

Then press the "Add comparison" button again.

In the first drop-down list, select "Default payment method - Status"

In the second drop-down list, select "="

In the third drop-down list, select "Active"

 

It should now look like the image below:

Action

Add an action via the plus sign.

Select Email. For this action, there are a few more options, set as below:

From

Your email address.

To l

$(User.email).

Use Layout

DO NOT check this box.

Subject

Optional! This will be the subject line of the email (e.g. "Your debit card has expired!").

Content

Here you fill in what you want to be in the email that goes out to members.

Example

"Hello $(User.first_name)

You have a payment card added to your profile that is invalid. We therefore ask you to go to your profile as soon as possible and add a valid payment card to avoid missed payments and interruptions in your service. It is very simple and does not take long, to make it easier for you we have sent a short guide that explains how to proceed.

How do I do it?

1. Log in via https://facilityname.wondr.se with your login details

2. Tap the icon with your initials in the right corner and select the “Payment method” option

3. Press the green button "Add payment method"

4. Select the payment method card payment, approve the message in the box below and press "Finish"

5. Fill in the card details for your new valid payment card

Then set "Repeats".

Number of days until this rule can run again: 20.
